Trent Arc

Trent Arc is the greatest transformational opportunity in the East Midlands, creating the potential for 30,000 new homes, more than 40,000 full-time jobs, a £2.4bn boost to the regional economy and 2.7 million square feet of commercial space.

Featuring a nature-enhancing urban network between the cities of Derby and Nottingham, it encompasses two incentivised development areas – the East Midlands Freeport and the Infinity Park Investment Zone, and three mainline railway stations at Derby, Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway.

Major employment opportunities in the Trent Arc include city centre sites, the redevelopment of two former power stations at Ratcliffe-on-Soar and Willington, while there are substantial residential areas at the Infinity Garden Community south of Derby and Toton to the west of Nottingham.

Trent Arc has the potential to combine major energy transition investments alongside energy-intensive activities such as AI and manufacturing.

Trent Arc is one of seven growth strategies in the new East Midlands Spatial Vision, which is being developed to help drive Mayor of the East Midlands Claire Ward’s ambitions to significantly lift investment and foster inclusive growth across the East Midlands.
