Mayor Claire on stage at the Marketing Derby Annual Business Event

Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward attended Marketing Derby‘s Annual Business Event held at Derby Theatre on Tuesday 21 January.

Speaking to a packed audience of over 500 business leaders, Mayor Claire explained how the devolution of powers and funding from Westminster to the Mayor of the East Midlands will benefit the region, and shared her ambitions for integrated transport, green energy, skills and inclusive growth across the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) area. These ambitions form part of the strategy for the Inclusive Growth Commission, which aims to ensure that the region’s economic growth benefits all communities.

Speaking on the headline panel session alongside Mayor Claire was Deputy Mayor of the East Midlands and Leader of Derby City Council, Councillor Nadine Peatfield. The panel was chaired by Marvin Cooke MBE DL, Professor of Enterprise at the University of Derby.
