The Hospitality Connect event, held on Thursday, brought together eight local schools and eight Nottingham hotels to provide students with valuable insights into careers in hospitality, catering, tourism, and business. The event aimed to inspire the next generation by showcasing the diverse career pathways within the hospitality sector.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in real-life activities such as hotel tours, bed-making competitions, kitchen takeovers, and career talks. Students also learned about relevant courses and apprenticeships available at Nottingham College that align with the hospitality industry.

The event was made possible thanks to the efforts of the EMCCA Careers Hub team, the founder of Hospitality Connect, and expert speakers from Nottingham College and Springboard. Special thanks were extended to Nottingham College’s faculty leads, Elliot Richardson and Ben Payne, for highlighting local technical and vocational pathways, as well as Rebekah Henry from Springboard for sharing valuable career opportunities available through CareerScope and beyond.

The event created an exciting atmosphere, and teachers left with great plans for the coming year. One of the key goals is to increase the number of students enrolling in hospitality-based courses at both sixth form and college levels, as well as encourage more students to pursue careers in the hospitality industry.

As a result of the event, eight school and hotelier partnerships have now been established, strengthening the connection between education and the local hospitality sector.
